Xiaomi has been manufacturing various smartphones under its varied brands for various markets. But it turns out that some of these smartphones are merely a rebranding of already existing devices.
This year has been incredibly profitable for its Poco sub-brand but the company still has several things to accomplish this year.
PocoGlobal Product Marketing Manager and Global Spokesperson has made it known that the company has some devices for us.
A recent report revealed that, a new Poco smartphone has now received the Euroasian Economic Commission certification. This smartphone is with the model number M2010J19SC and it is totally new. Netizens should be happy that they will be able to see something fresh from Poco. Nevertheless, there are still assumptions that this could be an already existing Xiaomi device.
There are speculations that the model number seems identical to an already existing Xiaomi device. According to this assumptions, the new device could be the upcoming Redmi Note 10. It is unavoidable to have identical devices between Xiaomi brands. This is due to the fact that they all use the same manufacturers and supply chains.
Several of Poco models are only a rebranding of Redmi devices. During one of its interviews, Poco’s regional director, Anuj Sharma has a justification for why the manufacturing company is using this pattern.
He explained that at the moment Poco is still a fresh brand and the development of new devices for each series will be quite difficult. This is the reason why they have to make Redmi models as a base or platform, improvising with them.
This is not surprising and it is not a strange thing in the smartphone market. OnePlus One appeared more like an Oppo product than OnePlus product. Similar occurences can be detected in several Realme smartphones. And Anuj Sharma made it clear that Poco is not alone in this.
Also, Anuj Sharma is of the opinion that the company will pursue the rebranding technique in the future. This implies that more Poco models based on Xiaomi smartphones will be seen in the future. He likewise verified that they will go on to install the MIUI shell on their devices due to the fact that the invention of their own firmware is not incorporated in their agendas for the foreseeable future.
Considering this acknowledgment from a Poco executive, it is most uncertain that the upcoming Poco phone is a “new” device. It might be a rebrand of the Redmi Note 10 series just like the speculations say.
