Federal authorities have agreed to introduce N30bn earned tutorial allowance for college lecturers. Cash can be paid in installments between May 2021 and February 2022.
Our correspondent gathered that the FG had additionally promised to spend N20bn on the revitalization of the sector of education as a part of the concessions to end the seven-month strike announced by the Universities of Academic Staff Association.
These have been a part of the agreements reached during the ongoing assembly among the FG and ASUU management on a Thursday.
#EndSARS strike to encourage recruitment of college students in protest – Ngige
Speaking before going to a closed-door session, the Minister of Labor and Employment, Chris Ngige, said that college students have been admitted to #EndSARS protests after the universities closed by the ASUU strike.
He hoped that ASUU would name the strike quickly, noting that the federal government was exploring ways to end the seven-month strike.
The federal government group was led by Ngige, his Minister of State, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and others, while the ASUU delegation was led by its President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi.
Ngige said, ‘For the past week, we are now on our toes; We have now gone to the assembly and we pray that some good results will come from this assembly’.
